  • Ask for your allowance in $1 bills so you can put one into your savings account right away.
  • Don’t forget to have your card stamped so you can earn great prizes at PHFCU just for saving.
  • Think of some chores you can add to increase your allowance and discuss them with your parents.
  • Go on a treasure hunt for loose change around the house and add it to your next deposit (ask your parents though if you can keep the money).
  • Put your PHFCU Piggy Bank where you can see it every day.
  • Bring your PHFCU Piggy Bank with you when you make a deposit and use the coin sorter for your change.
  • Ask your parents to help you save for something special like a new game or activity by showing you how to budget for it.
  • Think about what you want to be when you grow up.  Ask your parents or teacher what you'll need to get there.  You may need to go to even more school and you can start saving right away.
  • Borrow books from your local library on a regular basis and read the magazines in their comfy chairs.
  • Little amounts turn into big amounts quickly, so save whatever you can!
  • Money is earned.
  • Sometimes you may get money as a gift and that is the perfect time to put it in your PHFCU Piggy Bank.
  • Don't forget to use your money to help others.
  • If you ask yours parents for a Gaming Console or a new MP3 player and it costs approximately $200-$500 dollars, realize it may have taken your parents several days to weeks to earn that money. Note: if you already have these items, tell you parents thank you… often…. (and do your chores).
  • If you save $1 dollar per week for 10 years, you will have $520. If you save $5 dollars per week for 10 years, you will have $2600. If you save $10 dollars per week for 10 years, you will have $5200.
